Looking for Love

When I was an adolescent
My love was fragile, innocent.
I lived dreaming from crush to crush
Until I learned love you cannot rush.

When I turned twenty in love I fell
He was handsome but I could not tell
That beyond the looks and attention,
I was used to hide his sexual orientation.

All I knew about love then was pain,
But the disappointment I overcame.
I believed that things come when is time,
Even when I was lonely on a Saturday night.

Then one day I got red roses from overseas,
It was a delightful surprise, at least for me.
When love arrived it played no games,
And doubts I put to rest in a nice little frame.
